Welcome to Elm Class

Year 2/3

Teacher: Miss George

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Rauch

P.E Days: Tuesdays and Fridays - children will need to come to school dressed in P.E kit. Our P.E. kit consists of a white T-shirt, navy shorts/leggings/tracksuit bottoms, a navy jumper and trainers.

Reading at home

Reading can be a fun and imaginative time for children, which opens doors to all kinds of new worlds. As you are aware, reading every day will hugely benefit your child as reading is seen to be the key to learning. We ask that your child spends time reading each night. Reading logs come home daily: you are welcome to record any of your child’s reading in their yellow reading log book. This doesn't have to just be their home reading book but any other reading that they complete at home. It is really nice to be able to celebrate reading at home with your child in school.

Homework

Every Friday, your child will be provided with homework on Seesaw and will have until Wednesday to complete it. This will involve a maths, spelling and an additional activity linked to English, Science, or another subject. I will provide a set of instructions alongside all homework so there is a clear understanding of what is needed to complete it. Please can homework be completed in your child's homework book and then uploaded to Seesaw via a photo. Remember there is no expectation to print any sheets. If you are having any issues or need to ask a question about homework, please message or speak to me before Wednesday so that I can help.

Curriculum

An overview of what we will be learning about this term can be found here:

Elm Curriculum Overview

Regular daily activities

• Listen to your child read daily

• Practise number facts they should be able to recall these facts instantly, out of sequence.

• Practise weekly spellings.

Communication

If you need to send a message to us in class, the easiest way is via Seesaw. We will check Seesaw daily and get back to you as soon as we can. If your message is urgent then please phone the school office to ensure we see this as Seesaw may only be checked in the morning or after school. It is really fantastic to see any other learning and experiences that your child is doing outside of school, so please do share this on Seesaw. It is great to see what they are up to and also share achievements with the class. If you have any questions or queries please contact the school through Seesaw, via phone or email, or catch me at the door during collection at the end of the day.
